Imani Works Film Series: "Chicago 10" (2007)
|
This
film is a time-capsule glimpse of ourselves nearly 42 years ago. After
the Civil Rights movement brought the U.S. to the realization that we
are all born free and equal, after the careful acts of nonviolent
resistance showed the world a better way through the triumphs in India
and the U.S., in the midst of the turmoil of the Viet Nam war, there
was the "Chicago 10".
Brett Morgen creates an animated odyssey
through the days and nights leading to the anti-war protest of the 1968
Democratic National Convention in Chicago and the trial of 10 of the
organizers. Blending live footage of the events with rotoscope
animation, Morgen brings us uncomfortably closer to the truth of those
turbulent days.
Following the film, we will share a brief conversation about nonviolent resistance and the 6 steps developed by Dr. ML King, Jr.

Because space for this event is limited, please RSVP at Meetup: Imani Works or call 614-291-9950. If there is enough interest, there will be an
encore presentation later in the month. Watch for details.
